Indiana Sunset by Lisa K Ross

This beautiful crescent shawl , designed by Lisa K Ross of Paper Daisy Creastions, takes one (470 yard length) gradient skein and one skein of a high-contrasting solid color.  Our shop model, knit by Robin, uses the Mimosa gradient paired with Razzmatazz, a deep raspberry solid.  This design is a stunning foil for using very bright colors for a classically modern piece of wearable art!

The pattern is extremely well-written and the level of difficulty is relatively easy and is suitable for an adventurous beginner.  The design begins with a garter tab cast on at the center top and is worked primarily in garter stitch with slipped stitches to create the accent stripes.  Make sure when selecting colors for this shawl to use a solid which has a high contrast throughout the entire gradient.

Since the designer tells you how many grams of yarn you need for the last row and bind off, you can knit this shawl to use at much of the gradient as possible.  This means never having to play yarn chicken when knitting this shawl!  After finishing this shawl,  only 4 grams of the gradient skein remained!!  Technical details such as this, make knitting this shawl a relaxing stress-free experience.
This shawl lies beautifully across the shoulder and, worn with a neutral color like navy, provides a bright pop of color!  Have you made this shawl using our yarn?  Email us a photo at kimberba@kimberbaldwindesigns.com and we'll feature it in the gallery!
