ADVENTuresome Wrap designed by Ambah O'Brien

The photo above is actually of the reverse side of the shawl - both the front (shown below) and the back are equally gorgeous, making this beautiful to wear no matter how it drapes!

This store model was knit by Brooks in April 2020 as an experiment asking how the colors of numerous gradients would play together.  There are no solid colored yarns used in this sample, per se.  Instead, the main color is the gradient,  SYMPHONY, and the contrasting colors are gradients MONTANA, ORCHARD, SOLITAIRE, and STORMY WEATHER

If you would like to make the shawl out of the same colors as our store model, you can purchase a kit HERE.

For the main color gradient you will need a 470 yard length skein.  You won't use the entire gradient, but you will come close with only the last color or two in the gradient of the main color being unused.  So make sure you begin your shawl with this in mind, starting with your favorite end of the main color gradient and ending with the end left over as your least favorite.  Alternatively, you could pick up an additional mini or two in the final terminal contrasting color that you are using to make sure you finish out the entire main color gradient.  Since the 'Proscenium Arch' terminal end of the Symphony gradient is quite a bit brighter and less rich than the contrasting gradient colors, I opted to leave this color out.  Even though not all of the main color gradient is used up, there is still enough yardage to knit 27 (instead of the called for 24) sections in the shawl, making it very long (as shown in the photos)!  The shawl model ends with the contrasting gradient, 'Stormy Weather' at the terminal color 'Storm'.  If I had wanted to make the shawl even longer and include all of the main color gradient, then I would have continued with a mini-skein or two of the 'Storm' terminal color to make sure all of the main color gradient was used.

The contrasting gradients are each 255 yard skeins.  When selecting the order that you knit the contrasting gradients in this shawl, try to join them so that the color that one contrasting gradient ends on is close to  the color that the next contrasting gradient begins with.  For our shop model, the order of the contrasting colors is as follows:

Begin with contrasting gradient, 'Montana', starting with the 'Shadow' terminal end and ending with the 'Yellowstone' terminal end.

Continue with the second contrasting gradient, 'Orchard', starting with the 'Tuscan Gold' terminal end and ending with the 'Plum Crazy' terminal end.

Continue with the third contrasting gradient, 'Solitaire', starting with the 'Black Cherry' terminal end and ending with the 'Fog' terminal end.

Finish with the fourth contrasting gradient, 'Stormy Weather', starting with the 'Rain' terminal end and ending with the 'Storm' terminal end.
