Wensleydale is a long stapled fiber (8-12 inches in this commercial top) with an average micron count of 33-35 and having very high luster. We recommend spinning this fiber with a low twist and fairly thin for a lovely drape. Spun laceweight, this makes lovely shawls, A 3-ply fingering weight is wonderful for the outer layer of mittens or hats (we recommend lining with a softer wool). This fiber makes fabulous woven projects, either as weft (lower twist) or warp (higher twist).
